Nancy Colvard Burch

Nancy Colvard Burch, 88, passed away June 24, 2026 at her home in Gastonia, surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 22, 1937 in Graham County, NC, a daughter of the late Clyde Colvard and Myrtle Colvard.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Wilburn Burch, son Harvey Lamar Burch, brother Johnny Carroll Colvard, and sister Jean Shipton.

Nancy was a kindergarten teacher for many years and taught at Forest Heights, Pinewood and South Gaston Elementary schools. She was a long time member of Unity Baptist Church and an active member of her community who enjoyed volunteer work and helping others. She is a beloved teacher, friend, mother and "Gram" to many.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Robert Burch, Kim Black and Sherry and Phillip Peeler; Sister Roma Queen; Grandchildren David Cole, Heather, Danielle and Bailey Black, Michael and Matthew Peeler, and Jessica Merritt; and 10 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Unity Baptist Church at 482 North Myrtle School Road on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 2 pm.

Nancy was the heart of her family-a loving, caring, and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was the people she loved. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
