Myrtle Bellamy Ward, 86, of Gastonia, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 15th at Levine and Dickson House in Huntersville while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 19, 1929 in Chadbourn, NC, daughter of the late Asa and Emma Sue Bellamy.
Myrtle was married to the love of her life, Joseph Ward for 71 years and together they had five beautiful children. She retired from Pharr Yarns after 20 years and was a member of East Clover Church of God. Myrtle's lively spirit and generosity were loved by everyone.
Myrtle is survived by her husband, Joe Ward of the home; daughter, Peggy and husband Larry Bragg of Gastonia; son, Roger and wife Karen Ward of Gastonia; son, Jack and Peggy Ward of Gastonia; daughter, Susan and husband Scott Kessler of Myrtle Beach, SC. Myrtle also had 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Hanna; granddaughter, Kelly Christenbury; and grandson, Darius Bragg.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm on Sunday at East Clover Church of God, 743 Church Park Dr., Clover, SC.
The service will be officiated by Pastor Patrick Conley, Rev. Ray Loftis, and Rev. Jay Hibberts.
The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:30pm at the church prior to the service.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
