Myrtle Jean Heffner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrtle "Sue" Hance Heffner, who departed this life peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on November 13, 1946, in Lincolnton, North Carolina, Myrtle was a beloved mother and wife who dedicated her life to her family and home.

Myrtle is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph Heffner; her sons, Mark Heffner (Barbara), David Heffner (Tonya); granddaughters, Summer Heffner (Robbie), Morgan Heffner (Paola); great-grandsons, Aiden and Korbin; and her furbaby, "Rusty"; sisters, Polly Greenway and Linda Hensley; and brother, Harold Hance. She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, warmth, and the love she bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing her. As a devoted homemaker, Myrtle created a welcoming and loving environment that will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

In honor of Myrtle's life, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Additionally, a visitation will take place on April 30, 2026, beginning at 12:30 PM, also at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, Myrtle will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park.

The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Mike Free and Speaker Charles Faulkner.

Myrtle's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be missed dearly but remembered with love and gratitude. In this time of mourning, we invite you to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, William T. Hance and Ada Helms Hance; her siblings, James (Jim), Barbara (Eller), William (JR), Robert (Bobby), and Roy (Butch).
