She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pulaski Chapter #113, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1984-1985.  She also was a member of Rebecca's.  Myrtle also was a life member of the Ladies of the VFW-Auxiliary #1184, as well as a life member of the DAV.  She served as an assistant leader in cub scouts, assistant leader in girl scouts, and volunteered with the American Red Cross for 30 years.  During her time with the American Red Cross, her duties included taking information while working at blood mobiles.

In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Grinstead; sons, Barry M. and William F. Grinstead; and a brother, Benjamin Garrett.

Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Minniejan Krenzer; daughter-in-law, Ivy Grinstead; grandchildren, Jonard Sygaco (Shugar), Jason Grinstead (Nikki), Josh Grinstead, Wesley Brown (Sandra), Jamie Brown, and Sara Coiro (Joseph); eleven great grandchildren, and an uncle, Jay Eller; and an aunt, Naomi Branson.
