Murline Rowland Mccarter

Murline Rowland McCarter passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the age of 83 at Caromont Medical surrounded by love.

She was born June 23, 1940, in Cherokee County, daughter of the late Noah Arthur Rowland and Marie Lance Rowland. She was preceded in death by sister Elizabeth Rowland and brother Virgil Clarence Rowland.

She was a member of Zion Baptist Church for over 20 years when she passed and a member of Beech Avenue Baptist Church for 62 years prior to that.

Murline retired from Matthews-Belk where she worked for 32 years as a buyer for home furnishings.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Billy Belk McCarter, son Michael McCarter, Sandi McCarter (wife), Zachary McCarter (grandson), Hannah Oxendine Horn (granddaughter) Noah Horn (husband), Randall Rowland Sr. (brother), Peggy Messick (sister-in-law), and several nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly.

She was an avid reader and adored her roses. Murline loved unconditionally and gave of herself and her time wherever she could and is now in her heavenly home.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 6, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Zion Baptist Church.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Leo Kuykendall and Pastor John Whitaker, will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 2:00 PM, at Zion Baptist Church, 2437 Propst St., Gastonia, NC 28056. A burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
