Miles Michaels

Miles T. Michaels, 91, of Gastonia, left his earthly residence and went to be with the Lord October 21, 2016.

A Gaston County native, he was born November 3, 1924 son of the late George and Alice Michaels.

Mr. Michaels was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia and was a former Deacon and groundskeeper for the church.

He was retired from Firestone after 40 years of service and was retired from Belk's in Gastonia after 18 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Miles was preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Jean Grayson Michaels; three brothers, Ernest, Ralph, and Frank Michaels; and a sister, Grace Hill.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Steve Michaels; daughter, Teresa Michaels; sisters, Joyce Oxenreider and Violet Ashworth; grandchildren, Rhonda Carr and husband Benny, Heather Caldwell, Steven Michaels and wife Terri, Angela Millican and husband Chad, Jamie McElhaney and husband Jamrey; great-grandchildren, Chase Lay, Jordan Lay, Maxwell Michaels, Mitchell Michaels, Taylor Millican, and Jayda McElhaney

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener, will be held 6 pm Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn St., Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the church from 4 to 6 pm prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
