Mildred Hardin Sims

Mildred Hardin Sims, 92, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.

She was born July 1, 1930, in Cherokee County, North Carolina to the late Thomas and Sallie Hardin.

Mildred was an active member of Beech Avenue Baptist Church in Gastonia for more than 60 years, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, was a charter member of the WMU, volunteered for Vacation Bible School and was a faithful Deacon's wife. She retired from Firestone with 42 years of service, which was the longest service record at that time. She was a world traveler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Lee R. Sims, six siblings, and a great-grandson, Andrew Duncan.

Mildred is survived by her son, Wayne Sims and wife Lynn; daughters, Brenda Pridgen and husband Johnny, Karen Goodwin and husband Eddie, Teresa Little and husband Billy; sister, Dr. Wanda Ellis; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.
