Mildred Shanks

Lincolnton, NC Mildred Shanks, 72, of Kindred Rehab in Lincolnton, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013. A Gaston County native, she was born July 20, 1940, daughter of the late George Buster Shanks Sr. and Carrie Glenn Shanks. Miss Shanks was a member of Neely's Grove AME Zion Church, Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 1 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Tyrone Brown. The family will receive friends on Thursday 12 -1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends other times at 123 Church St., High Shoals, NC. Interment will be at Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Crystal Shanks of High Shoals; special niece, Diane Shanks Glenn of Gastonia; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Joshua Shanks of Pembroke, NC and Kean'u Davis of High Shoals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Shanks, George Shanks Jr., Bobby Shanks, and Theotha Shanks; and her sisters, Mable Miller and Corene Johnson.
