Mildred Martin Melton

April 26, 1932 — March 18, 2022

Mildred "Dute" Martin Melton, 89, of Gastonia, passed away, Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

A Cleveland County native, she was born April 26, 1932, daughter of the late John Martin and Mabel Eskew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Melton; daughter, Sonja Lynn Melton; siblings, Vivian "Dib" McDaniel, Virginia "Gin" Mixon, and John "Bub" Martin Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Coleen "Dit" Bennett of Florida; Gwen and Dean Smith of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Amy Wooten (Jesse), Dean Wilder (Christina), Angela "Elphie" Swanson (Joel); great-grandchildren, Jessica McKay, Shad Wooten, Logan Wilder, Dakota Wilder, Sadie Wooten, and Gavin Wilder; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor John Whitaker, will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503S. York Rd., Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain.
