Michele Blackman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michele Christine Blackman, age 47, on November 19, 2025. Michele was born on September 12, 1978, in New Jersey but found her home in Shelby, NC. She was an extraordinary woman who made an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Michele had a zest for life that was contagious. Known for her love of traveling with her kids, she created countless memories that will be cherished forever. Beyond her adventures, she was a remarkable family therapist, the proud founder and former owner of Shelby Wellness and Therapy, and a dedicated AAMFT approved supervisor. Michele earned her Master's Degree from Pfeiffer University, where her passion for helping others truly began to blossom.

An inspiration in every sense, Michele was also a competitive powerlifter, having won a contest that showcased her strength, both physically and mentally. She lived her life with purpose and vigor, always encouraging those around her to strive for their best.

Michele is survived by her children, Tara Thorne Askew, Mason Scott Blackman, Brody Michael Blackman, and Blake Allen Blackman all of the home; mother, Patricia Meadows, her special aunt, Irene Ryan from Atizona and all her close family and friends from Belhaven, NC and who will carry her spirit forward in everything she does.

Michele was preceded in death by her father, Michael C Polovitch; bother, Michael Polovitch.

In honoring Michele's life, a memorial service will be held 6:00 pm, Monday December 8, 2025 at Landmark Baptist Church- Shelby, NC, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the vibrant spirit she brought into our lives. The visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 pm.
