Michael Eugene Starnes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Eugene Starnes, a devoted husband, hard worker, and cherished friend, who left this world too soon on June 24, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on May 3, 1965, in North Carolina, Michael spent his life as a dedicated truck driver in the transportation industry, known for his unwavering work ethic and determination.

Michael was a passionate fisherman. He loved his fur babies, Saddie and Lilly, who brought him endless joy and companionship. Above all, Michael shared an extraordinary bond with his wife, Lori Ruffin. Together, they cherished a friendship grounded in love, laughter, and mutual support, making their lives richer and more meaningful. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with all of them.

In honor of his life and legacy, a visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 12:30pm - 1:00pm at Lowell Church of God, 804 W. 1st St Lowell, NC 28098. A memorial service will follow at the church at 1pm, officiated by Pastor Joe Heffner and Rev. Roger Wentz.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Elaine Starnes and brother, Randy Starnes.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 3.5 years, Lori Jane Ruffin; son, Brad Starnes (Haley Michelle); daughter, Haley Starnes; step-daughters, Brittany Ruffin and Madison Carver; step-son, James Ruffin; brother, Steve Starnes (Kim); sisters, Angela Hunt, Amy Tredway (John); 9 grandchildren.
