Melvin Wood

Charles Melvin Wood, 72, of Kings Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Atrium of Shelby.

He was born on May 24, 1948, in Gaston County, to the late Charles "CR" Wood, and Eula Mae Crane Wood.

Charles was a member of Harvest Baptist Church of Kings Mountain. He was a police officer for over 30 years, most of which he served at the Catawba County Sheriff Office.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Pete Strickland; sister-in-law, Jean Strickland; and stepsister, Jean Russell.

Left to cherish Charles' memories are his loving wife of 51 years, Violet Messer Wood; son, Shawn Howard and wife Julie; grandchild, Nicholas; numerous aunts; and several sister and brothers-in-law.

A memorial service for Mr. Wood, officiated by Pastor Gary Teague, II, will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Harvest Baptist Church – 144 Ware Rd., Kings Mtn., NC, 28086

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harvest Baptist Church.
