Melvin D. Boone

Melvin D. Boone, 78, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his residence.

He was born in Thomasville, NC on May 5, 1945, to the late Roy and Ruby Boone.

Melvin loved to play golf and go bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Hyleman Boone; six brothers, Roy, Charles, Joe, Cecil, Kermit, Leslie; two sisters, Clara Tietera and Justine Ann Pressnell.

Melvin is survived by his sons, Danny Boone (Melissa), Michael David Boone (Donna); daughter, Diane Boone Curry (Charles); nine grandchildren, Chris Curry, Scottie Curry (Kasady), Becky Garrett (Adam), Wendy Arwood, Jessica Boone, Jonathon Boone (Shawna), Dustin Spurling (Mack), Ryan Thompson, Brandon Thompson (Ashley); fourteen great-grandchildren, Justin Curry, Jacob Garrett, Trinity Arwood, Tanner Arwood, Kenslee Brooks, Olivia Thompson, Isaac Thompson, Pierce Walker, Aria Boone, Evelyn Boone, Charlie Benson, Kelsey Thompson, Abigail Thompson, Maximus Curry; special friends, Mike Summitt, and Carlene.

A Memorial Service officiated by Reverend Sam Barnette, will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, 3:00 pm, at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia, NC, 28052. Visitation will be from 2 - 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
