Melissa Ann Jennings

Melissa Ann Jennings, 87, of Mt Holly, NC, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 26, 1935, in McDowell Co., NC, daughter of the late James Roscoe Lowery and Mary Elizabeth Hogan Lowery.

In her earlier years, Melissa attended North Cove High School in McDowell Co., NC, where she played varsity basketball and softball. She retired from CMC-Main, Charlotte, NC, and volunteered at Caromont Regional for more than 15 years. She was the past president of the Volunteer Auxiliary. She taught Sunday School for many years at North Belmont Church of God.

In addition to her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Elvis Jennings Jr., and all her siblings.

Melissa is survived by her children, Gina Whitlow (Jim), Row Kalmanir, and Randy Jennings (Jodi); grandchildren, Jennifer Threatt, Jaime McGee (Kevin), Staci Whitlow (Michael Guzaski), Megan Workman (Jacob), Jordan Jennings, Riley Jennings, Kyrsten Gable, Lani Miles, and Ali Hartman; and great-grandchildren, Logan Threatt, Landry Threatt, Dontavius Nash, Lucas Burrell, Lawson Burrell, Landon Tinker, Easton McGee, Rawlings McGee, Ava Guzaski, Ella Guzaski, Asher Workman, and Benjamin Workman.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Kevin Ford and Rev. Fred Jennings will be held 4pm, Monday, June 6, 2022, at Belmont Four Square Church, 8 Elizabeth St, Belmont, NC.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.

Burial will take place 10am, Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt Holly, NC.
