Melissa Cox Baker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Cox Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Melissa, born on June 11, 1954, in NC, sadly left us on October 2, 2024, in her home in Gastonia, NC. She peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones.

Melissa was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Baker.

Left to cherish her memories are sisters, Melinda Athey, and Melanie Cox; brother Mack Adams; her sons, Matthew Morris, and Tyler Morris; and three grandchildren, Laney, Ava, and Grady Morris.

Melissa was a graduate from Independence High School then went on to Kings College to gain an Associate's degree. Melissa, a dedicated agent in the real estate industry, had a passion for helping people find their dream homes. Her career at Crosland was not just a job but a calling, where she excelled in her field due to her caring and dedicated nature. Melissa took her passion in interior design, for making a house a home came into full bloom when she opened "Second Showing" a consignment store in Huntersville. She enjoyed her interactions with her customers, where they quickly became not only customers but lifelong friends.

Outside of work, Melissa found joy in spending time with her family and friends. She was a proud mother to her sons, Matthew Morris and Tyler Morris. Melissa cherished her role as a grandmother and spent countless hours playing with and showering her grandchildren with love.

Melissa had a knack for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at home. She loved to decorate, garden, and host parties, always ensuring everyone felt welcome and comfortable in her presence.

While we mourn the loss of Melissa, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. In honor of Melissa's memory, a memorial service will be held 4pm, Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Visitation will be held 3-4pm at the funeral home. She will be deeply missed.
