Melanie Massagee

Melanie Robinson Massagee, 57, of Bessemer City, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Born on June 20, 1964, at an Airforce Base located in Ruislip, England, Melanie was the daughter of Christine Turner Robinson and the late James E. Robinson.

Melanie was the living embodiment of the words "gracious" and "kind". She gave grace and kindness to others, always putting them before herself. Melanie was always happy for your success than with her own. She was truly a wonderful lady, that we have been blessed to know and have loved. To know her was to love her, Melanie will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Bessemer City, NC. Melanie attended Highland Junior High, Hunter Huss Highschool and Rhyne Volunteer Fire Department. She first started her career with the Bessemer City Rescue, then went to work at Crowders Mountain Fire & Rescue, and later with Gaston County EMS for a total of 41 years of service. She was an outstanding Paramedic and a mentor to many.

Left to cherish Melanie's memories are her loving husband of 37 years, Buzzy Wayne Massagee; mother, Christine Robinson; daughters, Ericka Tarbush (Tiffany), and Tonya Hannah (Greg); sisters, Lee Viviano (Bill) and Yvette Ellis (Dan); grandchildren, Chase, and Albani Hannah, Hunter, Dalton, and Aaliah Tarbush; nephews, Daniel, Michael, Tate, and Stephen; and niece, Jada.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jeff Hicks, will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at First Assembly of God – 777 S Myrtle School Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 3:00 pm the day of the service.

Melanie will receive full EMS Honors.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all EMS, Fire and Police.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Animal League of Gaston County – 425 West Franklin Boulevard, Gastonia, NC 28052.
