Melanie Parton Byrd

Melanie Parton Byrd, 61, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

She was born March 26, 1960, a native of Gaston Co, NC, daughter of Marjorie Louise Jory and the late Jerry Allen Parton.

Melanie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, that treasured spending time with her granddaughter. She was a very caring and loving person that never met a stranger. She enjoyed good southern cooking, reading, trips to the NC Mountains and Beaches, game shows, and PBS Television shows.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her sister, Shari Tate; and father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Joyce Byrd.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 36 years, Gary Byrd; daughter, Ashley Montgomery and husband, Matt; sisters, Lisa Hayes and husband, Reggie, Kathy De La Ossa and husband, Victor, and Ann Parton; granddaughter, Charli Montgomery; brother-in-law, Roger Tate; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends 6-8pm on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
