Maxine F. Staton, 78, of Iron Station, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Lincolnton. Daughter of the late Lawson and Dora Smith Finchum, she was born November 3, 1936 in Gaston County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Melinda Carol Staton and Ravonda Lynn Mauldin Staton; and brother, Kermit Karo Finchum. Maxine was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lincolnton and was employed by Timken Bearing Company in Lincolnton for over 25 years. Mrs. Staton is survived by her husband, John Staton Sr. of Iron Station; sons, John Staton Jr. and wife, Charlene of Maiden, Perry "Rocky" Staton of Iron Station; grandchildren, Hayley Mauldin, Alana Gifford, and Joanie Goodson; sister, Marie Lawing of Mt. Holly; sister-in-law, Janice Finchum of Oak Island, NC; nieces and nephews, Chucky Finchum, Barbara "Bobbie" McGee and husband, Larry of Belmont, Cathy Deal and husband, Mike of Lowell, Lynn Harris of Belmont, Kim Van Dyke and husband, Darrell of Belmont, Pam Garmin and husband, Gary of High Point, NC, Libby Finchum, Kenneth Finchum of Albemarle, and Gary Finchum of Belmont, Harold Cook of Mt. Holly, Louise Childers of Mt. Holly, Barbara Little of Clover, SC and Coline Philbeck of Kings Mountain. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Anita Walker Sain, will be held 11 am Wednesday, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lincolnton -3097 Asbury Church Rd., Lincolnton, NC.
