Maxine Vance Jestes

September 18, 1940 — May 29, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Maxine Vance Jestes, who left this world on May 29, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on September 18, 1940, in Avery County, North Carolina, Maxine spent many cherished years in Gastonia, NC, where she created a warm and loving home for her family.

Maxine was a dedicated clerk for multiple retail businesses, known for her strong work ethic and bright spirit. She retired from clerical work and finished her career at Mary Joe's Cloth Store, where she formed lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. But her true passions extended beyond work.

A proud member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, Maxine's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was known for her generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or bring a dish to share. Maxine's kitchen was a hub of holiday activity, where she delighted her family with lovingly prepared meals, complete with all the fixings. Whether it was a big family gathering or a simple Sunday dinner, her cooking brought everyone together.

Maxine's creativity blossomed through her love for sewing, where she turned fabric into cherished gifts and treasured memories. She poured her heart into everything she did, especially when it came to her family, who were the center of her universe.

Maxine leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memories are her, daughter, Karen Bennett (John), son, Bryan Jestes (Tiffany), daughter, Debbie Jestes, and son Michael Jestes, grandchildren, Abigail Bennett, Austin Bennett, Kevin Schmidt and Cody Jestes.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, James Jestes; parents, Paul Vance and Verla Abee; brother, Kenneth Paul Vance.

All services will be held private by the family.

In life, Maxine brought joy and love to everyone she encountered, and in her passing, she leaves us with countless heartfelt memories. Rest in peace, dear Maxine; you will be deeply missed.
