Maxine C. Harkey

Maxine Cagle Harkey, 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2026. She was born December 13, 1933 to the late James Cagle and Ila Morrow Cagle.

Maxine was a dedicated member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church which merged with Southminster Church. After retiring from her long time career with Public Service Gas Company, Maxine enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Her famous fudge was her family and friends biggest request during the Holidays.

Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin, and son, Jeff. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Anne Dockery; grandchildren, Shannon Dellinger (Bobby), Carson Dockery and Bridgette Harkey; great grandchildren, Gavin and Gracie Dellinger; and her special nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held 3:00 pm on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Southminster Church. A gathering will be held following the service at the church Welcome Center. Inurnment will be private at the church.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Carolina Caring and Stress Free Home Care, with special gratitude to Deajsha Adams and Kayla Hinkle.
