Maude Stewart

September 26, 1921 — June 18, 2016

Maude Lowery Stewart, 94, of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Courtland Terrace.

She was born September 26, 1921 in Union Co., SC, daughter of the late William and Winona Lowery.

Mrs. Stewart was a loving and devoted mother who dearly loved her grandchildren.

She was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia and was faithful to her Lord and Savior.

She formerly worked as a reading assistant at Rhyne, Pleasant Ridge, and Chapel Grove Schools.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Stewart; grandson, Trent Stewart; brothers, Eugene, Billy, Charles, Ernest, and Jimmy Lowery; step-brother, Jack Lowery; and step-sister, Martha Sue Lowery.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Mark Stewart and wife, Sandy, Phillip Stewart and wife, Jeanne all of Gastonia; granddaughter, Emily Stewart Huss and husband, Paul; step-granddaughter, Kristin Miller; great-grandchildren, Merritt and Miles Huss; brother, Bobby Lowery and wife, Joyce; sister, Mary Waddell; niece, Sonja Cantrell and husband, Lewis.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dennis Boyce and Pastor Lamar Creel, will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at First Assembly of God, 777 S. Myrtle School Rd, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers to carry her to her final resting place at Gaston Memorial Park include Bill Cleveland, Rick Watkins, Robby Costner, Paul Huss, Jim Jolly and Kenny Searcy.

The Stewart family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Courtland Terrace for their dedication and the loving care they provided to Mrs. Stewart.
