Mary P. Sutton

Chester, SC Mary P. Sutton, age 85 of Chester, SC, formerly of Belmont, passed away on January 8, 2013 at Fairfield Healthcare Ctr., Ridgeway, SC. She was born February 7, 1927 in Ashe County, NC, daughter of the late Parker and Palestine Paris Young. Mary loved her family and caring for others. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening. She was an advocate of the Humane Society and tended to stray cats in her neighborhood. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Revs. Jeff Johnson and Frankie Sneed. The family will receive friends 1-2 pm prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. The interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Left to cherish Mary's memories are: her daughter, Rose Capps and her husband, Will; daughter in-law and caretaker, Glenda Hogue; grandchildren, Theresa White, Johnny Adkins, Tonya Oxendine, Lee Oxendine, Bryon Adkins, Tony Adkins; 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband of 33 years, William Lee Sutton; sons, Donnie Phillips and Jimmy Hogue; daughter, Ruby Oxendine; brother, Glen Young; sister, Marcelene Roper.
