Mary Lineberger Rankin

Mary Lineberger Rankin, 85, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

She was born February 15, 1937, in Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Gano Lineberger and Annie Mae Hart Lineberger.

Mary was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, Gastonia. She taught Sunday School for 62 years at Sandy Plains Baptist, and Union Road Presbyterian, Gastonia. She loved to crochet, sew, and to make quilts. She also loved playing cards, and working puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Rankin; and brother, John Lineberger.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon Rankin of Brunswick, GA, Roxanne Brown (Terry) of Dallas, NC, Candace Rankin Daves (Scott) of Gastonia, NC, and Boyte Rankin of Gastonia, NC; siblings, Georgia Beaty (Roy), Gloria Lineberger, Carolyn Thomas, and Lee Lineberger (Donna); 8 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren.

A memorial service officiated by Mike Lineberger, will be held at 5:30pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
