Mary Elizabeth (Lowery) Cullen

Mary Elizabeth (Lowery) Cullen (91) passed away peacefully August 19, 2022.

Daughter of the late Raymond and Cleo Dunbar Lowery.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Gregory (Mark); son, Doug Cullen (Joli); 7 grandchildren, Beth (Bill), C.J. (Virginia), Conrad (Ingrid), Christopher (Tracie), Clifton (Marjorie), Caitlyn (Jonathan), and Crystal (Michael); 7 great grandchildren, Ashley, Sean, Chris Jr., Isabella, Luther, Milo, and Liliann; and 1 great, great grandchild, Falyn. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Cardwell and Marlene Killeen.

Mary was born in Princeton, KY in 1931. She married Thorton Cullen, a coal miner, farmer and fisherman.  In 1965 she and her family moved from Providence, KY to Key Largo, FL. After many years she settled in Lake Placid, FL.

After a bad automobile accident in 2018, she moved to Brookdale Assisted Facility in Gastonia, NC. to be near her son and family there. She had many friends at this facility and was loved by residents and staff. The staff of Brookdale were wonderful to Mary making it easier to make the facility her home.

Mary was a wonderful, true, southern Christian lady, fantastic mother, loved her sisters dearly and her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored her.  She will be greatly missed by her family.
