Mary Parker Ghorley, 86, of Gastonia, passed away July 7, 2014 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. She was native of Gastonia, born June 19, 1928, daughter of the late Melvin and Betty Parker. Mrs. Ghorley was a charter member of Yorkwood Church of God. She loved her family, church and the outdoors. She enjoyed watching the birds and gardening her flowers. Her faith in God was very strong, she loved to read her bible and listening to gospel music. She was a loving, gentle person who never found fault in anyone. She is survived by: son, Loin Ghorley and wife, Crystal; daughters, Rachel Hill and husband, Vernon, Elaine King and husband, Roland; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, James "Turk" Ghorley; son, Gene Ghorley; brother, James Avery Parker and sister, Lavina Parker Easler. A funeral service will be held 3 pm on Thursday at Yorkwood Church of God - 405 Stagecoach Rd, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Dale Dyar. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm on Wednesday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery.
