Mary Margaret Farner Womble

Mary Margaret Farner Womble, 103, of Lincolnton, NC passed away, Sunday, January 26, 2020 at her home.
She was born, February 7, 1916 in Farner, TN, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus Farner and Emma Davis Farner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Henry Womble; daughter, Jewell Poarch; son-in-laws, Paul Poarch, Blair Stone and Harold Thompson; and several brothers and sisters.
In Mary's earlier years, she was active with Grace Baptist Church, Lincolnton, where she enjoyed singing for the congregation. She also sang gospel music on the radio and at other churches. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and canning. She was a devout Christian, who was a wonderful witness to her entire family.
Mary is survived by her sons, Wendall Ray and Lois Womble of McConnell, SC; Tommy Wade and Reida Womble of Clover, SC; daughters, Gladys Stone of Lincolnton, NC, Christine Thompson of Gastonia, NC, and Catherine and Gene Ledford of Gastonia, NC; 17 grandchildren; and six generations of family.
Mrs. Womble will lie in state starting at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Steve Weaver, will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church - 3400 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034.
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
Burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
