Mary Lee Edge

Feb 1, 1929 — Jul 27, 2026

On July 27, 2026, the world welcomed a tender spirit home as Mary Lee Edge, a loving mother, devoted friend, and vibrant soul, quietly passed from this world, reaching for the great beyond at the age of 97. Born on February 1, 1929, in the small town of Rhodhiss, North Carolina, Mary roots ran deep in the tapestry of her community. She spent her vibrant years spreading joy and kindness throughout Gastonia, where she found her home and community.

As a winder for Parkdale Mills, Mary brought a work ethic that mirrored the beauty of her spirit. She had a special knack for weaving connections-both in her work and in life. As the Coordinator for Trinity United Methodist Church and the Christ Assistance Ministry, she opened her heart and home with unwavering generosity. The church was her second family, a place where her lively presence and warm smile enriched the lives of many.

Mary love for the mountains, especially Pigeon Forge, served as a backdrop for many of her cherished memories. She often sought refuge there, enjoying nature's embrace, reflecting on its beauty. Social gatherings, particularly at Firestone Grill in Gastonia, were her delight, filled with laughter and camaraderie. Known as a social butterfly, she thrived in the warmth of friendship and community.

An ardent supporter of law enforcement, Mary served as President of the Community Watch, where her passion for safety and neighborly bonds made a lasting impact. Her children were her pride and joy. Mary loved them fiercely, nurturing their dreams and celebrating their triumphs as her own.

In celebration of her remarkable life, a Funeral Service will be held at Greene Funeral Service's South Chapel, on August 1, 2026. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 PM and again at 2:30 PM, reflecting on the love and laughter she gifted to those around her. Following the service, she will find her final resting place at Gaston Memorial Park 1200 S New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC.

As we bid farewell to Mary Edge, let us carry forward her spirit of laughter, community, and love for one another, honoring her legacy by embracing each moment with the warmth she so effortlessly shared. Though she has moved on to the great adventure, the echoes of her kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
