Mary "Susie" Cunningham

Mary "Susie" Cunningham, 77, of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

She was born March 20, 1940, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Joseph Clyde Greene and Mae Love Smith Greene.

Susie was deeply devoted to her family and very passionate over her grandchildren. Her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and gave her peace. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia. She was a former co-owner of Metro Electronics and retired from American Efird.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas LaDean Cunningham; stepdaughter, Geneva Peaslee; brothers, Jerry Greene, Jack Greene, Joseph Greene, Ronald Greene, Jay Greene; sisters, Sara Norris, Barbara Thompson, Phyllis Brown, Judy Lewis, Debra Thompson and granddaughter, Kaylin Grisdale.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, Ray Douglas Cunningham; daughters, Nikki Grisdale and husband, Robbie, Lisa Hall and husband Vance; step-son, Joel Cunningham; sisters, Pat Hall, Betty Worsham; 14 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitner, will be held 1pm on Wednesday, at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn St, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends 11:30 – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, before the service at the church.

Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
