Mary Carpenter

Mary Carpenter, 76, a native of Gaston Co., NC, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Gastonia, NC.

She was born March 17, 1946, daughter of the late Ralph Lackey and Margaret Lackey.

Mary attended Ranlo Church of God. She loved her family, friends of the "Over the Hill Club", playing rummy and eating sweets.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Payne (Rennie), and Ronnie Payne (Mandi); daughter, Cynthia Wilson (Larry); sister, Sharon Lackey; grandchildren, Bobby Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Jessica Payne, Heather Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Dawson Wilson, Jackson Payne, and Gavin Payne; and great-grandchildren, Kaden Wilson.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Roger Overton, will be held 2pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia, NC.
