Mary Lee Allen

Mary Lee Allen, a beloved loving wife, devoted mother and maw maw, exceptional sister-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 28, 1946, in Lincoln County, NC, Mary spent her life in the charming town of Bessemer City, where she became a cherished member of the community.

Mary was known for her warm heart and welcoming spirit. As a dedicated deli worker at the old Winn Dixie, she delighted many with her cooking and hospitality. Her love language was expressed through the meals she prepared and the gatherings she hosted, ensuring everyone felt like family. Her passion for reading and love for her family shaped her life.

She was a wonderful wife to Henry Allen Jr.; son, Steven Allen (Annette); granddaughter, Abigale Allen; honorary daughter, Amy Brandon.

Mary was preceded in death by parents, John and Edith Reep; sister, Judy Varney.

Mary was a faithful member of Ridge Baptist Church, where her compassion and kindness touched the lives of many. She never met a stranger, and her friendly demeanor and infectious smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Mary Lee Allen will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends, where the memories of her will always remain in their hearts.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service, officiated by Pastor Todd Terry, at Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Rd., Gastonia, NC, 28056, at 4:00 PM. Friends and family are welcome to come together to celebrate Mary's life and share cherished memories before her burial at Westview Gardens. Burial will take place Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
