Marty Ryan

Marty Ryan, 73, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away September 25, 2015 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord, NC. He was born October 13, 1941 in Plattsburg, NY, son of the late Charles Joseph Ryan and Rita Dubuque Ryan. Mr. Ryan earned an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies through the Culinary Institute of America in May 1976. He was a US Navy veteran whose service included a tour in Vietnam. He was retired from the New York State School System and helped his community with his work through The Power Authority. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his infant son, Peter Thomas Ryan and his brother, David Ryan. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dewayne Chitwood and their children, Christopher and Anna Chitwood of Lowell, NC; son, Matthew Ryan and Karen Kopec of Auburn, NY; brothers, Arthur Ryan and wife Joan of Ogdensburg, NY, Charles Ryan and wife Nancy of Schroon Lake, NY, Jerry Ryan and wife Majorie of Saratoga Springs, NY, Daniel Ryan and James Ryan, both of New York State; sisters, Dorothy Green and husband Keith, Bonnie Goggin and husband Martin, Lynn Demczar and husband Steve, all of New York State; sister-in-law, Linda Ryan of Half Moon, NY; numerous nieces and nephews, and former spouse and close friend, Nancy Krall. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
