Martha Jane Scoggins

Martha Jane Scoggins passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Born on April 6, 1938, in North Carolina, Martha spent most of her life in Clover, South Carolina, where she touched the hearts of many with her warmth and kindness.

Martha had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She especially loved roses. She worked for many years at Moffitt Falls Nursery. Martha was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She loved the Christmas season.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie & Gertrude Fredell; beloved husband, Leonard Edward Scoggins; daughter, Sharon Payne; son, Matthew Scoggins; great-grandson, Anthony Ervin; sisters, Annabelle, Mary, Betty Faye, Elleen.

Martha will be remembered fondly by her son, Leonard Scoggins; daughters, Ruby Rogers, Angela Scoggins; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Misty, Brian, Larry, Jessica; sisters, Edith, Jessie, Teresa; several great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. Those who knew her will remember her dedication to her work, her vibrant personality, and her ability to make everyone feel at home.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Martha's life at a graveside service at Gaston Memorial Park on April 16, 2026, at 3:30 PM. Prior to that, a visitation will take place at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC, starting at 2:00 PM the same day.
