Martha Jo Johnston Badger

Martha Jo Johnston Badger, 84, of Gastonia, passed away August 4, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born March 6, 1931, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late Earl G. Johnston and Eunice Bridges Johnston. Martha Jo was a member of Myrtle United Methodist Church in Gastonia and Southwest Home Extension Club. She was the former owner and operator of Badger Florist. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to say a special thank you to Dr. Digby and the staff of Gaston Medical Group and to Emily Goad, Houston Williams, Ruby Hope and Belinda Talent for helping their mom and dad. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of over 64 years, Charles R. Badger; sons, David Badger and wife, Amy, Doug Badger and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Liza Badger and Katie Parker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Erin Badger. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday at Myrtle United Methodist Church- 1135 Bessemer City Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Dr. Dennis Bean and Reverend Kim Higgins. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Pallbearers carrying her to her final resting place will be Freddie Roberts, Ricky Roberts, Clifford Raby, Jeff Clark, Bruce Hixson, Patrick Hall, Mike Propst and Steve Lingerfelt. Memorials may be made to Myrtle United Methodist Church- 1135 Bessemer City Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium.
