Marlene Tregoe Calhoun

Marlene Tregoe Calhoun, 88, of Bessemer City, passed away October 15, 2023, at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia.

She was born September 27, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Henry Tregoe and Esther White Lilley.

She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.

Marlene loved spending time with her family and she always waved to everyone when they were leaving. She loved reading her bible and praying for others.

She enjoyed cooking, but she especially loved baking cakes for everyone.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Blessed Hope Baptist Church 3357 Fallston Waco Road Cherryville, officiated by Pastor Kevin Dover.

The family will receive friends 1-2pm prior to the service at the church.

The burial will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.

Marlene is survived by her son, Glenn Greenwell (Chris) of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Kimberly Postelle (Greg), of Crouse, NC; brother, Brent McDonald of Jarrettsville, Maryland; sister, Deanna Martin of Bear, Delaware; grandchildren, Josh Postelle (Victoria), Hannah Postelle, Jessica Rome, Brandy Greenwell-Dorrian; great-grandchildren, Marlena and Jerry Postelle, Nehemiah and Zoey Rome, Piper Dorrian.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Greenwell; second husband, Rev. Jimmy Calhoun; son, Shannon Calhoun; daughter, Rachel Calhoun; brother, Charles Tregoe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Dementia Alliance of North Carolina 9131 Anson Way Suite 200 Raleigh, NC 27615.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia.
