Mark Alexander Wortman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Alexander Wortman on April 5, 2025, at the age of 64. Born in Gaston County, NC, Mark lived a full life in Gastonia, where he was known for his hard work as a skid steer driver in the paving industry.

Mark was a down-to-earth guy who cherished his time spent with family and friends. He had a passion for fishing and deer hunting, often sharing stories of his adventures in the great outdoors. He was also a huge NASCAR fan, spending many weekends cheering for his favorite drivers. His two beloved dogs, Tinkerbell and Bubba, were constant companions, bringing joy and laughter to his days.

Mark is survived by his son, Scott Wortman; sisters, Kay Spencer (Danny), Beth Bullard, and Janet Mann; numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss their loving father, brother, and uncle.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Wortman; parents, Alexander and Jo Nell Wortman; nephew, Danny Spencer Jr.; niece, Kandy Spencer.

A visitation will be held for Mark on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 6 to 8pm at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his life and the memories we shared.

In the words of Mark, "Life is what you make it," and he made his life one full of love, laughter, and a little bit of adventure. Rest in peace, Mark.
