Mark Whitesides

Mark Wilkins Whitesides, 63, of Gastonia, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home.

A Gaston County native, he was born April 24, 1959, son of the late John and Grace Whitesides.

He was a veteran of the US Army and National Guard.

Mark was a member of Crowders Creek ARP Church.

He was a sheet metal fabricator with multiple companies for many years.

After retiring from sheet metal work, he was involved in landscaping.

Mark loved to hunt and fish and loved the mountains.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Shirley Rutledge Whitesides; daughter, Jennifer Fowler Williams; brother, Jerry Whitesides; sister Nancy Clark (Rick); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hunnicutt, Mallory Mullins, and Jacob Mullins.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jason Strong, will be held 1:30 PM on Wednesday, July 27, at Crowders Creek ARP Church, 207 Crowders Creek Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00am until 1:00pm prior to the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
