It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark David Martin, a beloved husband, father, friend, and cherished member of the community. Mark was born on July 23, 1951, in New Jersey and spent his life in service to others until his peaceful departure on October 20, 2026.
Mark lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, best known for being a people person who could light up any room with his contagious smile and love for conversation. There was never a stranger to him-just a friend he hadn't met yet. He spent his days as a long-haul truck driver, traveling the country and sharing stories with everyone he encountered along the way. Mark's love for singing also touched many lives, as he often shared his musical talent to bring joy to those around him.
Mark proudly served in the Army from November 24, 1976, to November 23, 1982, achieving the rank of E-5. His military background instilled in him a strong sense of camaraderie and service, which he continued as a deacon at East Garrison Baptist Church.
He had a knack for fixing things and was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need, be it with repairs or sharing his culinary creations. His love for cooking brought family and friends together around the table, making memories that will last a lifetime. As a licensed ham radio operator with the call sign AD4VF, he also connected with others through his passion for communication.
Mark leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Lynda Martin; stepson, James Brackett; daughters, Traci O'Connor (Josh), Jill Graudszus (Ivan), and Nikki Martin; grandchildren, Riley O'Connor, Logan McKee (Brandson), Percy Graudszus, Taylor Rodriguez (Jesus), Colt Upton, and Trent Upton; great grandchildren, Isabelle Rodriguez, Giovanna Rodriguez, Campbell Upton, and Venus Upton, all who will hold his memory close to their heart.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernice Martin; brother, Jimmy Martin.
A funeral service will be held in his honor at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beforehand starting at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Salisbury National Cemetery.
