Marie Janos Mattox

Marie Janos Mattox, 96, of Gastonia, passed away October 14, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born a native of Annapolis, MD, daughter of the late Joseph V. and Mary Slechta Janos. Marie was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was employed by the US Navy Dept. at the experimental station in Annapolis, MD; Matthew Belk, Children's Shop; WT Grants; Akers Center; Chovis Hardware and retired from D.W. Leather Products. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Chun Mattox; granddaughter, Valerie M. Foust and husband, Ben; grandson, Jeffrey T. Mattox and wife, Julie; brother, Joseph J. Janos of Annapolis, MD; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James H. Mattox. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Father Matthew Buettner. Visitation will be held 10 - 11:30 am on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
