Marie Bagwell Jolly

Marie Bagwell Jolly, 73, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021, at her residence.

She was born August 24, 1947, a native of Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late James Lee Bagwell Sr. and Laura Jones Bagwell.

Marie loved children, gardening, bowling, and her church's. She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, where she was Awana teacher, and Westview Baptist Church, both of Gastonia, NC. Marie was generous to fault and loved giving. She worked at Winn-Dixie, Walgreens, Sams Club, was co-owner and CEO of C & E Mechanical, she was also a member of the Womens Auxiliary of VFW and a member of the American Legion. She was the Vice President of USBC for many years. She was the tournament director of the USBC for 4 plus years and was also the director of the USBC from 2006 until her accident in 2015, where she was a committee member for Ways and Means, By Laws and Policy Procedure. Her and her husband sponsored USBC Tournaments. She was a league secretary for Wix Textiles for the USBC. She was the NC State Delicate for the Gaston USBC. Her achievements in bowling, she bowled double tournaments, was a winning team member, bowled in National Tournaments and was the co-director of AMF Bowling League for USBC.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 20 plus years, Frank Buster Jolly; daughter, Angela Marie Bolynn; and siblings, Fred Bagwell, James Bagwell Jr., Albert Bagwell, Garland Jones, John Marshall Bagwell, Esther Craft, Gladys Mae Harris, and Belvie Stone.

Marie is survived by her granddaughter, Emily Thomas; stepson, Eddie Jolly; brother, Grady Bagwell; and sister, Sharlene (Del) Woolstrum and Thelma Redlinger.

A memorial service officiated of Pastor Scott Rudisill, will be held 2 pm on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church - 5323 Union Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056.
