Marie Verdie Farner

Marie Verdie Farner, 90, of Smyrna, SC, passed away, Monday, September 9, 2019 at White Oak Manor, York, SC.
She was born, June 2, 1929 in Polk County, TN, daughter of the late John Pearlie Croft and Verdie Pickelsimer Croft.
Marie enjoyed crocheting and she loved her doll collection.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Taylor; daughter, Wanda Hovis; son, Donald Peak; and was the last of her siblings to pass away.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard Farner; sons, John Peak and Alvin Peak; daughter, Mary A. Ruffin and Kenneth; 13 grandchildren, Cathy Jones, Donald Hughes, Jackie Hughes, Brian Peak, Kenny Ruffin, Ann Dover, Donald Peak Jr., Michael Peak, John Peak Jr., Jonathan Peak, Joy Singleton, Karen Schincke and Michaela Peak; and 27 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service officiated by Rev. Larry Laws, will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Gaston Memorial Park - 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
Family will receive friends, 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
