Margaret Elizabeth Shumate King

Margaret Elizabeth Shumate King, 90, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.

She was born January 30, 1932, in Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Jacob Elijah Shumate and Hattie Marie Harris Shumate.

Margaret was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Gastonia. She loved her family and looking at old pictures. She never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob King; daughter, Myra King Cunningham; brothers, Lonnie Shumate, and Douglas Shumate; sister, Christine Goodson; and grandchild, Michelle Medford.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Ronnie Walker (Renee), and Randy Walker; daughter, Sheila Renee Medford; and grandchildren, Dwayne Medford, Jeremy Evitt, and Katie Cunningham.

Family will receive friends 6-8pm on Monday, March 21, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

A funeral service will be private.
