Gastonia, NC Margaret Hensley Powell, age 81 of Gastonia, passed away March 12, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born July 4, 1931 in Clover, SC, daughter of the late William and Mary Webb Holmes. She was a member of Temple of Joy. She taught children and sang in churches for many years. Margaret taught Bible stories and fed the homeless on the streets of Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC, officiated by Rev. Aaron Phillips. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. The interment will be at Woodside Cemetery, Clover, SC. She is survived by: daughters, Mary Faile and spouse, Chris of SC, Brenda Barker and spouse, Phil of Gastonia; brother, Bobby Holmes and spouse, Janice of Belmont; grandchildren, Shane Faile and spouse, Marie, Heather Yates and spouse, Terry; nieces, Mary Martin, Katrina Bumgardner, Brenda Wise, Angie Johnson; nephew, Jamie Garmon, who she raised as her own; grandma to Blake, Brandi, Tyler, Patrick, Brandon, Daniel, Abby, Alex, Nicholas, Natalie and Lorena.. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her two husbands, Bobby Hensley and James Powell; grandson, Bob Nichols.
