Margaret Southerland Phillips

Margaret Southerland Phillips, 86, of Gastonia, passed away May 16, 2016 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

She was born September 10, 1929, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late William Russell Southerland and Ellen Louise Hood.

Margaret was a member of North Gaston Church of God in Dallas.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved her church and church family, where she loved to serve the Lord.

Left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren Jeff, Timmy, Robert Jr. and Rev. Andy Nicholson, Tammy Davis, Tonya Simonds,  Sonya Hearn and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Hershel Nicholson and Billy Gene Phillips; sons Robert, Boyd and Richard Nicholson; daughter Ruby Hearn; two brothers and 3 sisters.

A funeral service will be held 7 pm Wednesday at North Gaston Church of God, 1310 Cherryville Hwy., Dallas, officiated by the Revs. Andy Nicholson and Jerry Willard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
