Margaret Virginia Hollifield

Gastonia, NC Margaret Virginia Hollifield, 91, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She was born April 3, 1922, in Gaston County, daughter of the late William and Virginia Hovis Bame. Virginia is survived by her sons, Richard Stephen Garris of Chester, SC, Robert Lamar Garris of Locust, NC, and William Eller Garris of Charlotte; daughter, Virginia Anne McCormick of Charlotte; brother, James Bame of Gastonia; sisters, Matti Sheperd of Gastonia and Archie Oats of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10-11:45am Wednesday, July 24, at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Joel Shirley, will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.
