Margaret Hamrick

Margaret Ann Hamrick, 94, of Gastonia, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Cleveland County, NC on January 18, 1929, to the late Harvey and Donie Smith.

Margaret was a lifetime member of Loray Baptist Church in Gastonia. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She never sought recognition but was the rock of support to her family. She enjoyed delving into family ancestry and was considered the family historian. Her favorite bird was our NC State bird, the Cardinal.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles W. Hamrick; brothers, Walter Smith, James Smith, Harold Smith, Kenneth Smith; sister, Frances Smith; son-in-law, Dave Lewis.

Margaret is survived by her son, Keith Hamrick (Luann); daughter, Nova Lewis; brother, Charles Smith (Peggy); sister, Judy Gordon (Winford); grandchildren, Brandon Hamrick, Josh Lowe (Whitney), Ann Kegeler, Jill Lewis (David Funaro), Timi Cooper (Adam), Tristen Long (Kenny), Neal Shotwell (Jim), Rhys Lewis; great-grandchildren, Austin Hamrick (Montana), Hunter Hamrick (Courtney), Dalton Hamrick, Caroline Lowe, Claire Lowe, Hailey Lowe, Aubrey Long, Noah Long, Lyvia Cooper, Evyn Cooper, Hannah Shotwell, Zachary Shotwell.

A funeral service officiated by Dr. Kent Cranford, will be held at Loray Baptist Church, 1128 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC, 28052, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service. A burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
