Gastonia, NC Mae Blackwell, age 86, of Gastonia, passed away March 12, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. She was born August 24, 1926 in Forsyth County, NC, daughter of the late William and Ella Spaugh Johnson. Mae loved the Lord, praising the Lord in song, caring for the elderly and was dedicated to the needs of her children and grandchildren. Her love was constant and her support unwavering. She was a member of Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dallas. Mae has lived in Chattanooga, TN and San Francisco, CA. A funeral service will be held 10 am on Friday at Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dallas, officiated by Pastor Sandy Bozeman. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A committal service will be held 3:30 pm Friday at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Wise. She is survived by: daughter and son in-law, Angie and Sam Sulls of Gastonia; sisters in-law, Jenny Bryant of Greensboro, Ernestine Blackwell of Charlotte; grandchildren, Lauren McIntyre and her spouse, Jonathan, Morgan Rabe, all of Pensacola, FL, Grant Sulls of Cocoa Beach, FL, Kyle and Samantha Sulls of Gastonia; great granddaughter, Brielle Michal McIntyre of Pensacola, FL. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, William Blackwell; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Hill Baptist Church, 2300 Philadephia Church Rd., Dallas, NC 28034 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
