Madge Austin Dismukes, 93, formerly of Abingdon Place and ARP Manor in Gastonia, died January 3, 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was born in Clover, SC to the late Columbus C. "Lum" Grayson and Bessie Peny Grayson. Madge was a free spirited person who loved music. God gave her a wonderful gift of being able to play the piano by ear. Even though she could not read music,she played the piano for several churches in Gastonia. She was involved in a "Clown" Ministry that visited several nursing facilities and senior centers, playing homemade instruments and singing. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm on Monday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia officiated by Pastor John Gibbs. The family will receive friends 2:00 - 3:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. She was preceded in death by; her first husband, John B. Austin, her second husband, George Dismukes; daughter, Judy Sosebee Franks; sisters, Mozelle Carson, Jean Michaels and Dot Lee; brother, Perry Grayson. Survivors include sons, Mike Austin and wife Rickey of Shelby, Dennis Austin of VA; step son Joe Dismukes; grandchildren, Tim Sosebee and wife Sylvia of Clover, Debbie Henry of Mt. Holly, Jody Sosebee of GA, Jason Austin of Dallas, Ron Austin of GA, Michele and Angie Austin, Candy Sellers; step grandchildren, Tim Dismukes and Pam Smith; twenty-four great- grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; son in-law, Grover Franks; brother in laws, Miles Michaels and Barlow Lee; several nieces and nephews.
