Mack Eugene Welch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2024, just before his 91st birthday. Born on December 9, 1933, in Gaston County, NC, Mack spent his life in Gastonia, where he made lasting memories and connections.
Mack was a proud veteran who served in the Army from 1957 to 1959, where he achieved the rank of E-4. He carried that pride into every aspect of his life. A dedicated worker at WIX Corporation, he worked many years to support his family, but it was the moments spent with them that truly defined him.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Geneva Welch; son, Rodney Welch; daughter, Lynn Johnson (Keith); grandson, Matthew Welch; sister, JoAnn Postell; nephew, Michael Rohm (Melinda); great niece, Savannah Rohm; great nephew, David Rollick.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Beulah Welch Nolen; sister, Marlene Rohm (Leonard); nieces, Deborah Rohm and Terry Rollick; daughter in law, Carmen Welch.
Mack attended South Gastonia Church of God, where his faith and community were important parts of his life. He had a passion for photography, capturing the beauty of everyday life and his cherished family moments. He loved fishing, often taking to the waters with loved ones, and he had a special hobby of exploring antique stores, always on the lookout for unique treasures and books.
Mack's life will be celebrated on December 6, 2024. A visitation will be held at the South Gastonia Church of God from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Bobby Gilley and Pastor Adrian Franklin. He will then be laid to rest at the Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mack will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind heart, warm smile, and passion for life will live on in the stories and pictures shared with those he loved.
