Lucille Prince Butler, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, September 26, 2014 at Carillon Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born on May 18, 1926 in Green Creek, North Carolina. She was the only daughter of Robert Hoyle and Daisy Scruggs Prince. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl Butler, her parents, and her brothers, Boyce Lee Prince and Herman Prince who died in infancy. She is survived by her only child, Suzanne Butler McLean (Leslie, Jr.), of Gastonia, two grandchildren, Elizabeth McLean Brown (Matthew), of Charlotte, Lynn Leslie McLean III, (Elizabeth), of Gastonia, and her great-grandson, William Davidson McLean. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cornelia Hines Prince, nieces, Lavonda Prince Turner (Mason), Jennifer Cheryl Prince, all of Green Creek, and Carron Prince Smoak (Jeff) of Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Lucille was an employee of Threads USA for forty - two years. She was very active in her former church, Temple Baptist where she was circle leader, five-year-old Sunday school teacher, member of the Women Missionary Union, and member of the Sanctuary Choir. She is a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was active in the Senior Choir, Communion Committee and XYZ Senior Citizens Group. She was an amazing Christian lady, caregiver, wife, mother and grandmother (MawMaw). The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and love she received from the staff at Carillon Assisted Living, Dr. George Bell and staff, Dr. Chiefetz of Metrolina Nephrology Hudson Boulevard Dialysis Center, and Gaston Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greene Funeral Services, 1503 South York Road, Gastonia. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Road in Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1729 East Garrison Boulevard, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 or Gaston Hospice PO Box 3984 Gastonia, North Carolina 28054. Lucille's final wishes were that we, "Celebrate family, friends, and most of all life."
