Lucile Brannon Key Walker 83, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and church musician, passed from this life into the presence of God early on the morning of September 22. She was the daughter of the late Francis Scott Key and Beulah Brannon Key. Sister to the late Francis Scott Key, Jr. and the late Mildred Key Patterson. She was married for 62 years to her high school sweetheart the late Billy Earney Walker. She leaves behind her daughter: Deborah Walker Young and her husband Lee of Gastonia, and her son: Billie Earney Walker, Jr. of Charlotte, two grandchildren: Carrie Tolbert Block and her husband Chris of Belmont and Dixie Young Lineberger and her husband Brad of Mt. Holly, and great grandchildren: Jonathan Ray McPeters, Christopher Adam Block, Jr. and Charles Bradford Lineberger, Jr. Lucile graduated from Cramerton High School in 1949 and was a home maker for many years. Later she worked as receptionist for Dr. William Woody, DDS, of Gastonia. She volunteered as pianist for Bethesda United Methodist Church for over 40 years and recently was awarded the "United Methodist Laity Award" for her service. She was very active as a "Core Leader" with Community Bible Study in Gastonia. She was also a member of the Pvt. Vincent key Chapter of the United States Daughters of the War of 1812 for some 24 years. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Gastonia with the memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.
